Blackberry Sage Bourbon Smash

Blackberry Sage Bourbon Smash

Sharing is caring!

Did you know it was National Bourbon Heritage month?  We had no idea until the fine folks at Four Roses, reached out and wanted to know how we were going to celebrate?  I guess they have heard that it is no secret that we love our bourbon.  It doesn’t matter what season it is; bourbon appears in our cocktail glasses more often than not.  Cannot wait for you to try out this fall inspired Blackberry Sage Bourbon Smash cocktail recipe.

Blackberry Sage Bourbon Smash

If you are not familiar with Four Roses, their Yellow Label Bourbon is a great go-to bourbon for cocktails;  especially Fall inspired ones.  This bourbon has aromas of pear and apple and well as warm spices, which mixes well with sage and sultry blackberries.  I find that this bourbon is great in a cocktail but also excellent served neat.

Blackberry Sage Bourbon Smash

I typically make a version of this cocktail all summer using thyme or basil in my simple syrup.  Come Fall; I switch these herbs out for Sage.  Sage gives the simple syrup a bit of a woody, musty flavor which is perfect for bourbon drinks.  Blackberries you can never go wrong all year long! Top off this cocktail with just a splash of tonic to give it some bubbles!
