Ripe Cookbook Review

We recently made a batch of Eggplant Romesco and have been enjoying it on slices of bread, tossed with hot pasta, smeared over grilled chicken breasts and by the spoonful.  It is slightly smokey and spicy.  Full of end of summer flavors, and the texture is just rough enough to keep things interesting.  It is only one of our favorite recipes from the new Ripe Cookbook.

Eggplant Romesco from the Ripe Cookbook

Pile of books.  Limited schedule.  Time to get “Down and Dirty” with a Chez Us video review.  Short and sweet;  see what we (I) have to say about RIPE, as I am chatting up my new favorite cookbook by Cheryl Sternman Rule, and photographed by Paulette Phlipot.

We have a give-away.  We are going to give one lucky reader a copy of Ripe.  Just answer the following question:  What is the recipe that I am dying to make, sooner than later?  The answer is in the video.

Bonus entry:  Come back here and leave a separate comment, telling us what is RIPE in your kitchen, right now.  This will be fun!  We will announce a winner on Monday, September, 17, 2012, you have until midnight (PST) on the 16th of September to play along.  Anyone can win, from anywhere.

**  Rachel won our giveaway for the Ripe Cookbook.  Stay tuned we are announcing another giveaway for September!  Every month until January 2013 we will give something away that we love!

    Dear Denise,

Your favorite recipe is “Warm fava shallot couscous” and I have some delicious ripe peaches in my kitchen. I’ll make a salad from them with thinly sliced raw monkfish and maybe a nice chutney with the rest of them.
    Smiles from Germany, Silke
