April 16 – 19, 2009, was the second annual Pebble Beach Food & Wine event, and Chez Us was there enjoying every last sip and bite! We were very lucky foodies as Foodbuzz gave us passes to enjoy this outstanding weekend. THANK YOU!! A bit of history about the Pebble Beach Food and Wine Event ….. this event is held on some of the most unforgettable coastline, the Pebble Beach/Carmel California coast. We could not have asked for a better weekend – blue skies and temperature in the high 80’s – it was amazing! PBFW brings together over 250 wineries and 60 celebrity chefs, for four days of unforgettable feasting. Now, this is not your ordinary food and wine event, this is the creme de la creme of the business. We truly were blessed!
Not only were we noshing on some of the best food we have ever eaten, while sipping some amazing wines , all the way from bold California wines to the finest French wine; but, we were interacting with chefs and learning new and exciting things. As well we were meeting other Foodbuzzers and making memories to last. Some of our fellow noshers were: the Lovely Pim of Chez Pim and her partner in crime David Kinch of Manresa, darling Kate of Cooking with Kate, Chef John of Food Wishes and the Foodbuzz crew, Ryan the Girl of The Pink Spoon, Kiersten (otherwise known as Kiki’s or Eric’s love) and finally but not least, Devon.
Enough with the nitty gritty, let’s talk food! Here are a few highlights from our day of tasting ~
Chef Morimoto
Jacque Pepin & his Blini w/Caviar
Chef Hui with his amazing bowls made of spun sugar & filled with macaroons.
Chocolate Mousse & Pear dessert by Chef Hui
Crab Cake by Chef Regester
Fois Gras Fran with a Veal reduction by Chef Ginor (I normally don’t care for Fois Gras, I could not get enough of this)
Octopus with Fennel by Chef Estee
There was a lot of *pork belly* going on, but this was by far the best one we had, another dish by Chef Estee. A spin on the classic BLT – Homemade English muffin, with Becker Lane pork, tomato glee & romaine lettuce ice cream (yes, I got the gist on how to make it – Thanks Chef)
I wish the lighting was better in this corner tucked away as this dish was amazing! Kobe beef, with arugula and drizzled with a truffle sauce presented by Chef von Foerster.
A liver rabbit kidney fois gras pie by Chef Cosentino of our neighborhood Incanto.
Lenny eating the liver rabbit kidney fois gras pie.
Me being a poser with Chef Ripert
Be sure to come back tomorrow (Friday night) as we share more highlights during a dinner we had at the PBFW – it was out of this world – courses matched with some amazing wines!! You will not want to miss out on this -fantastic!
