I’ve been trying to share this High Protein Green Goddess Dip recipe for the past three weeks—but life, as it does, kept getting in the way. Back in May, my goddaughter Maggie and I were chatting about cottage cheese dip ideas, and something about that conversation sparked a little culinary fire. Once I started tinkering, it became clear: this dip had to be a Green Goddess something.
Lately, I’m completely hooked on all things Green Goddess—fresh, herby, and impossibly green. This version is protein-packed, creamy thanks to whipped cottage cheese, and endlessly dippable. It’s one of those recipes that’s ridiculously easy to make, yet feels just a little extra.
By no means am I all about eating a high-protein diet—but I am trying to be more mindful about getting in extra protein, especially beyond just meat. As I get older, I’ve noticed those muscles don’t stick around as easily, and building strength has become more of a focus. That said, I still want to enjoy what I eat—and since I’ve always been a sucker for a good dip, this recipe fits right into that “let’s sneak in more protein without it feeling like a chore” vibe.
This Green Goddess Dip is loaded with cottage cheese (I love cottage cheese), and a generous scoop of sour cream for creaminess and balance. I tested it with whole milk Greek yogurt, but honestly, it didn’t hold up the same way—something about the texture was just a little off. Mayo didn’t work for me either. That said, if sour cream isn’t your thing and you don’t mind a slightly looser dip, feel free to swap in your favorite Greek yogurt. Just don’t skip the herbs!
When it comes to Green Goddess anything, I personally think tarragon is non-negotiable. It adds that unmistakable, slightly anise-y brightness that sets the whole thing off. This version is herb-loaded in the best way—with green onions, tarragon, Italian parsley, mint, and lots (and I mean lots) of dill. A squeeze of fresh lemon juice ties it all together with the kind of zingy freshness that just screams summer.
Honestly, this dip has become my new summertime jam—perfect with crisp veggies, spooned onto grain bowls, or even slathered on grilled chicken or fish. I’m also working on a spicy ranch version that’s in heavy rotation around here… stay tuned for that one!
