Dark and Stormy cocktails have become one of my go-to drink choices lately. I love all the flavors that are in a dark and syrupy rum, not to mention the spicy ginger beer. I find it so refreshing.
Captain Morgan Black Spiced Rum is perfect for a Dark and Stormy cocktail. Black Spiced is a syrupy blackstrap rum that is almost sweet like molasses. Slightly smokey from being aged in charred oak barrels with a hint of cloves. This rum is great on its own served over ice as well as mixed with a crisp ginger beer to make a Dark and Stormy cocktail.
We were playing around with cameras the other night which happened to also be dark and stormy outside. Seemed like the perfect night to make this fun little how-to-video featuring one of my favorite cocktails. The video was part of an assignment in our online how to shoot food videos group that Lenny is leading. The challenge was that I had to shoot a video using one light, and it could not be natural light. I think I nailed it with this video as it definitely leaves you feeling like it was a Dark and Stormy kind of night.
Recipe: Dark and Stormy
Ingredients:
2 ounces Captain Morgan black spiced rum or your favorite dark rum
4 ounces ginger beer
ice
lime for garnish
How To:
Fill a glass with ice.
Pour in the rum, then add the ginger beer.
Squeeze in some lime juice and then garnish.
Serve.
Drink.

Nice vid, I'd read somewhere you need to try to create a layer by slow pouring the beer at an angle with the ice and rum inside. J/tried it, didn't work ah-so well ah

I love food videos, but I must say, there's a lot of the same stuff - overexposed, slow motion (WHO ADDS INGREDIENTS IN SLOW MOTION?), redonkulous music. It's all getting to be a bit much.
I love the sound layering your video - the music overtop of real life - it's so refreshing!! The sound of ice dropping in a cup - gorgeous! The lighting, the raincoat and keys tossed upon the table… I can't wait to see what you do next!
