Ashley, over at A Year in the Kitchen, is hosting this weeks Tuesdays With Dorie Challenge or as Lenny likes to call it, Tuesdays With the Devil. He says it is making us FAT! Ashley, should be an inspiration for all of us, not only is she part of TWD; but, she has a fitness/diet blog, that is very inspiring!

Back to all things fattening. I was a bit suspect about this recipe for a couple reasons, I am not overly fond of nutmeg and my friend, E. has a banana bread recipe, that is really to die for! I decided to make this bread Saturday, in between paint coatings drying, so that we would have it for breakfast on Sunday. The recipe was fairly straightforward and not time-consuming at all. I did like the fact that the chocolate was not over bearing (and I am a chocolate addict) and it tasted more like banana bread and was not over powered by the rum (I used brandy) or the nutmeg.
Verdict: it was tasty as all of Dorie’s recipes have been. I loved making it so much the first time, that I made it again (in the same day) with the intentions of giving it away; well, we ate it! The only compliant we had was that it was a bit dry (and I baked for an hour 20 minutes, next time I would not bake it as much and I may add another banana). Otherwise, it was very tasty and as you can tell from the photos, Lenny had no problem being tempted by the devil!

[...] few months ago I made a Tuesdays with Dorie Banana Bread, while it was very good, it was not as good as my friend Evelyn’s banana bread. I have [...]
Beautiful marbling! I’ve been searching other TwD bloggers on this particular recipe and am looking to try it when I get my hands on some ripe bananas. In the meantime, I was wondering if you wouldn’t mind sharing your friend’s banana bread recipe with me.
Your cake looks wonderful–nice marbling. And “Tuesdays with the Devil” definitely made me laugh. =)
Hey there. I used to have the problem with dry banana bread, but I found the secret – add two tablespoons of sour cream (light or regular, or even yogurt) – it will be perfectly moist!

Nice job. Two loaves, eh? One for each hip!
LOL, I did the same thing! The loaf I made for the neighbors never made it their house. Oh, well. Yours looks wonderful!
That picture speaks for itself!
Glad you enjoyed it.
Good to the last bite!
Looks like it was enjoyed, that’s for sure. You really knocked the marbling out of the park!
You know a recipe is good when you bake it again the same day! I wish that had been my experience, but I’m still game to give it another go.
LOL – I love that you ate the second loaf!
Mmmm – cappuccino would have been perfect with this! Great marbling and pictures – and my husband is none too thrilled with all the fattening stuff every week either. He doesn’t really do the fruit ones though, so that’s a help.
OMG Tuesdays with the Devil….wow! Haha…my hub doesn’t gain weight and he only has to work out like once a week…whereas I have to work out like a fiend to stay in shape as much as I love dessert. Your loaf looks fabulous!
Lenny is absolutely right! We need to start a “Wednesday’s with _______ (insert exercise guru’s name)” to go along with TWD.
Anyway, your loaf looks terrific!
Fabulous pics! Thanks for the comment!
Tuesdays w. the Devil…too funny!! I love your photos!
Love the first picture. That’s honesty right there.
Oh, these recipes are so bad for the waistline but so worth it! Your loaf looks great!
Gawd, my husband says the same thing. But he doesn’t complain when “Dorie’s” doing chocolate.
I agree! I think this is a great giftable recipe, maybe something I’ll do for the holidays!

I love your photos! Tuesdays with the Devil ~ too funny, LOLOLOL! Great job on the bread x2.
Your marbling is beautiful. My husband is loving all the baking also. When possible, I halve the recipe and it has become our “Sunday Night Treat.”
Tuesdays with the devil! LOL. Thats what my husband thinks too. He’s gained 10lbs since I joined TWD but he’s a skinny minny so I told him to stop complaining and eat his darn galette! haha. Beautiful pictures. Great job!

Lovely marbleing, and painting is hard work! You had to eat the second loaf too!
