I found my thrill on Blueberry Hill; that should be the theme with this wonderful pie! I was really hoping when the challenge for TWD was announced for the 4th of July week, that it was not going to be a gooey cake; but, instead, something that would scream SUMMER. Amy, over at South in Your Mouth, came through with the absolute perfect challenge. We thank you and my family thanks you!
We were road-tripping up to Dillon, MT, to spend the holiday with my family. I could not wait to add this to the menu for the week as my family loves to eat and especially SWEETS! It is a pretty straightforward recipe and very easy. The only “odd” part of the recipe was to add breadcrumbs; which, I did and at that time, my sister’s nose twitched a bit and she asked, “really?”. “Yes, really!” It was suppose to thicken the pie; it was still was rather runny, next time I would add a bit more flour to the berries. By the way, you do not even notice the breadcrumbs.
This has been bookmarked as a summer favorite; even, Dad, who does not blueberries loved it! You have to add this to your recipe collection, if you love pie, blueberries and summer freshness bursting in your mouth. The recipe can be found here. Now grab a fork and sit back and enjoy!

Lovely! Did you do little cut-outs around the edge? Or is that a fancy way of crimping? I’d rather have my pies a bit runny than too thick…yummy!
Lovely looking pie! I, too, was not a fan of blueberry pie. I’m a believer!
your pie looks beyond delicious. I can almost smell it…
Looks fab! Berry pies are an indulgence for me, because berries can be quite expensive to purchase here!
Your pie looks great! I have hope that I will like it since I am not a fan if your dad loved it. Good job!

Love the photos — the lighting is perfect!
Everyone’s pies have turned out so gorgeous, yours included! Your family was lucky to have you around to bake this for them!
Yum! I love that little plate, the photos, the dish, everything! Great job-
That says a lot that even your Dad liked it – and how could he not? It looks great!
Your pie looks great! I love the edges. To solve some of the runniness, I used Cook’s Illustrated’s tip and cooked half of the berries first. The only problem with that was there weren’t enough full berries running out of the sides like yours so I didn’t get enough berries bursting.
Great photos…great looking pie!
Your pie looks wonderful! This was my first time using bread crumbs, I wondered about the texture, but it worked!
welcome back guys!! Glad to know that you did some cooking while away too.
The pie looks great and I especially like it kinda runny! That means more FRESH fruit and juices in every bite!
i wondered about the crumbs too – but once again, dorie was right on! yours looks wonderful!
I’m glad your out-of-town family enjoyed this as much as we did. Absolutely a keeper. Great job!
